Dr. Vikram Kulkarni M.Tech, Ph.D.

     

      I am Vikram Kulkarni, a 12 years experienced person in academics. I am currently Assistant Professor at, Dept. of Information Technology, School of Engineering(MPSTME), SVKM's NMIMS Deemed University, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. I have completed my Ph.D. from the School of Electrical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, with the thesis titled,  "Avoiding Interference for Wireless Sensor Networks Working in 2.4GHz Frequency Band for Smart Grid Applications". I received M.Tech in Embedded Systems, and B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, both degrees from JNTU, Hyderabad.

 

I have published/ presented 30 technical research papers in refereed Journals, National and International conferences, Book chapters and magazines. 

 

My research interests include Wireless Sensor Networks, Smart Grid Communications, Home Energy Management Systems, and Image processing.

Professional Goals & Objectives

​

• Facilitate and play a key role in an institution by creating an active team of researchers so as to enable development of a Smart Grid based laboratory for carrying out real-time academic and research studies.

• Take-up inter-disciplinary research and attempt to develop a team of researchers to work in emerging areas of Wireless Networks, Internet of Things, Cloud-Computing, Smart Grid Communications and Energy management.

• To pursue projects which would result in publications in reputed international journals.

• Carry out collaborative research activities in the field of Smart Grid based Data Communications and Smart Micro-Grid Automation, Design of Communication layers for smart-metering and Effective Energy Management using IoT.

• Carry out Consultancy, Training & Research with leading Industries & Organizations
